What is the best age to start songwriting lessons?

We recommend that if your child is showing an interest in music, any age is the best age, and as a parent, you’ll know when that time is.

We’ve had incredible success with songwriting students starting as young as 8 years old. This is our most personal class which is more like receiving a gift. Great songwriters are hard to find, but when you become confident and good, everyone will notice.

What equipment do I need at home?

Songs can be written anywhere at anytime. You never know when an idea is going to strike. Most of us have a cell phone which can be your most important tool. Open up your voice memo app - then sing, hum or strum any idea that comes to your head. A great option would be to eventually add a recording production class to your schedule so you can complete all of your ideas for the world to hear.

Do I need to know how to play an instrument to write songs?

Honestly, no instrument is necessary to write a hit song as most start with a melody. However, knowing how to play an instrument gives you more tools to help in maximizing your songwriting time and your creative output when an idea or inspiration comes to you.

How long until I’m good?

While everyone is different, the bottom line is practice. The more time you spend perfecting your craft, the faster you will experience ability-changing results. If we’re doing our job right by keeping you motivated and inspired, you or your child will have to work at not wanting to write music every minute of the day.
