Tommy Wright

Owner, Guitarist, Music Director, Producer, Engineer and Entrepreneur

Tommy-resized.jpg

I remember when my interest was first peaked in music beyond just being a listener. I was watching a junior high friend of mine play single note melodies of Bon Jovi songs on guitar. He was so cool. I was hooked! From there, I bought my first guitar amp combo package and started to wood shed. The first song I ever performed was Seek and Destroy by Metallica. \m/ After that amazing experience, I immediately started on the black album, 'nough said.

In addition to playing, I found a love for live sound, producing, and recording. I had many opportunities to work with bands on their musicianship, sound, and image. I bought a bunch of live sound and recording gear and learned how to use it. I've played in bands of several genres including rock, blues, rockabilly, pop, and country.

I currently play electric guitar regularly at Crossroads Church in Corona, CA. While I do participate in side projects from time to time as a guitar player, I still have my love of producing bands and look forward to pouring into the next generation

Don Miskulin

Owner

Don-resized.jpg

Rockstars of Tomorrow, Riverside owner, Don Miskulin is our Renaissance man, or as he puts it, “many talents, master of none!” He’s lived in Riverside for over 30 years, he’s an Air Force Veteran, he’s an honorably-retired Riverside Police Officer who spent the last 15 years of his law enforcement career as a Police Helicopter Pilot.

He was most recently the Dean of Students at Riverside’s Encore High School for the Performing Arts. He has built, owned, and operated small businesses for the last 20 years, during which time he has become an adept handyman dabbling in most of the construction trades. Don is an Eagle Scout and was a Scoutmaster for over 15 years. He’s been married to his high school sweetheart, Sherrie, for 35 years. They have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren.

Don’s grandfather was a professional musician who played mandolin, violin, and bass his entire life. Don earliest musical performance memory is playing the Marine Corps Hymn on the accordion in his grandparents living room at the ripe old age of 5. He picked up the trumpet in elementary school and then switched to drums and guitar in junior high school. He played drums in Corona High School’s marching band, and bass guitar in the concert and jazz bands. He played in various garage rock bands throughout junior high and high school.

He recalls his first church gig was at the First Congregational Church in Corona in about 1977. He played guitar while his brother played drums and his sister played piano. About 25 years later, Don would take on the volunteer role of Worship Leader and Music Director at a small Baptist church in Woodcrest. His resources were short, but he managed to mold a group of mostly teenagers into a decent little worship band.

In 2007 he and his family moved to Olive Branch Community Church in Corona. There he was the Children’s Worship Director for several years. This is where he met and began working with business partner, Tiffany Levin. Together, they built a fantastic children’s music program which featured kids as young as 6, leading and playing worship music for their peers. A few years later, Tommy and Amy Wright would bring their sons into the musical mix at Olive Branch. Over the years, Don, Tiffany and Tommy worked together in Olive Branch’s various music ministries and developed a friendship that would lead to the business partnership that is Rockstars of Tomorrow, Riverside.

In music, Don’s philosophy for success is first to be bold. Don’t be afraid to put it out there even if you make a mistake. If it comes out sounding weird, just call it jazz! The more you do it, the less “weird” will happen. Second, be available. Be the bandmate that everyone can count on to always be there, especially in a pinch.

In life... Always take on as much responsibility as you can stomach, then take on a little more.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isiaih 40:31

Cheyne Miskulin

Studio Manager

Cheyne-resized.jpg

Cheyne is driven to constantly improve his efficiency and competence as a studio manager and musician. He is always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoys being proactive in the development of Rockstars of Tomorrow Riverside. Cheyne believes that success starts through self-reflection and knowing your worth. Music has always been a huge passion for Cheyne and he’s determined to share his passion for music with every person that walks through the studio doors.

Growing up in a musical family, Cheyne always had a passion for music. He started playing drums at 5 years old, but chose to play bass guitar at the age of 12. In 2006, Cheyne enlisted in the United States Army and served 2 deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even though Cheyne was in combat, he would have a bass guitar shipped to him so he could play music during his down time. When his enlistment expired in 2011, Cheyne went to college at California Baptist University with the hopes of becoming a law enforcement officer. Cheyne graduated CBU in 2017 and worked as a Physical Education Coach while still pursuing a job in law enforcement.

In 2019, Tommy Wright reached out to Cheyne and proposed the idea of becoming the studio manager for Rockstars of Tomorrow Riverside. Cheyne was hesitant at first, but became thrilled at the idea of immersing himself in music and still being a positive impact in his community.

Cheyne grew up listening to classic rock and blues music, but as of late, has taken particular interest in progressive metal. His major influences on bass guitar include Dirk Lance, Eddie Breckenridge, Dan Briggs, Simon Grove, and Jacob Umansky. Outside of music, Cheyne is an avid hockey fan and enjoys fishing and hiking with his wife.

Chris-resized.jpg

Chris Fernandez is a grassroots musician who’s been performing music since he was a child. Growing up in a musical family, Chris was naturally drawn to become a musician. Chris was taught the fundamentals of singing at a very young age, then picked up the guitar when he was 12 years old. Since then, Chris has always pursued becoming an amazing musician.

Chris started teaching music at Rockstars of Tomorrow Riverside in 2018, and has grown to be a thoroughbred instructor at Rockstars. Chris is driven by seeing his students grow in music. He thoroughly enjoys seeing “the spark” when his students learn something new. It reminds him why he loves music and inspires him to continue writing music. Chris believes that music is needed in today’s youth more than ever. “Kids need to get away from the screens and connect to something real.”

Chris enjoys listening to mainly rock music, but also has an interest in Hip-Hop, R&B, Blues, and Reggae. Chris’ favorite artists include Incubus, Chris Cornell, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles and Sublime. When he’s not playing music, Chris enjoys skateboarding, spending time with his family, and seeking out the best restaurants in Southern California.

JT Wright

Keys, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Music Production, Live Performance

JT-resized.jpg

JT is a Rockstar at heart. He started playing music in the summer of 2014, and has been committed to music ever since. JT started off playing piano, but then gravitated towards drums, and then became proficient at playing guitar and bass. Truth be told, JT started playing music because he wanted to annoy his friends with meme songs and overplayed radio music. However, after learning a few of these songs, he began to enjoy playing music and eventually attended Rockstars of Tomorrow Norco to become more well-rounded as a musician.

JT is continually striving to understand more about music and all of its aspects. His favorite aspect of teaching at Rockstars is seeing the growth in his students. “Seeing a student’s growth is such an exciting concept. When you can see growth in your abilities, you get such an astounding sense of joy and accomplishment, and as an instructor, it means so much to me if I can inspire that growth to my students.”

JT also loves the communal aspect of music. “When you get together with people that understand music and just start playing, there’s a special bond that’s made in that moment. It’s an incredible feeling!”

JT has a general appreciation for all genres of music. He loves modern pop and R&B music, but will listen to rock. He has many artists that he thoroughly enjoys listening to, but his favorite artist would be The 1975, LANY and The Night Game. Outside of music, JT likes to spend time with his friends skateboarding and going to Downtown Disney with his girlfriend.

Troy Pine

Guitar, Bass, Theory

Troy’s musical journey has been fairly straightforward, but not without its twists and turns. From an early age, his mom introduced him to piano - and while he didn’t take it seriously at the time, playing piano ignited a spark that would continue to build well into his adulthood. In eighth grade, Troy began playing trumpet in band class, and went on to participate in marching band groups for the next eight years of his life, earning accolades in High School and becoming a world traveler with the Riverside City College Marching Tigers. In that time, he also discovered a new love for playing piano, singing, and composing original music. In late 2018, after several failed attempts at joining other bands, Troy decided it was time to forge ahead on his own, and the Troy Story Band was formed.

Though mostly self-taught, Troy welcomes any opportunity to learn from others and open his own horizons. His favorite bands include The Doors, The Black Keys, New Order, and Electric Light Orchestra. Troy hopes to inspire others and nurture their love for music any way he can, whether through his own professional music career or by giving the next generation the skills and confidence they need to carry the torch.
